I've included some interesting statistics regarding 2024 from the National Association of Realtors below.
It was such a beautiful day last Wednesday after my Compass meeting at our downtown Lafayette office that I decided to take a quick walk around the Lafayette Reservoir. I was listening to a good book and delighting in the colors of the trees when a woman I didn't know stopped me and asked if she could take my picture. She said that I looked good with the trees! I've included some interesting statistics regarding 2024 from the National Association of Realtors below. All time highs this year: the age of first time buyers is up to 38 and the average age of sellers is up to 63. Not included in the chart (but heard earlier this week in an interview with the chief economist at NAR): the number of homes sold in 2024 has not been this low since 1995... but, sales of existing homes are expected to grow by 9% in 2025, the median home price went up 2% this year and interest rates are expected to settle right around 6% in 2025.
I'm preparing a couple of Moraga homes for market in early 2025 and discussions with local agents who are also doing the same lead me to believe we will have a vibrant spring market. One of my sellers is taking advantage of Compass Concierge - a zero interest loan for pre-market home improvements ($750 flat fee). Reach out if you have any questions about that program. I went to see last year's show and it was a blast... fun for all ages! The theatre is close to the Presidio bowling alley and Tunnel Tops Park. You can make a day of it.
