I was looking at this 2023 migration from California data this morning and was thinking fondly about some of my best buddies and clients who have left the state in the past few years. I had the joy of visiting these three beautiful women - all dear friends and past clients - in Colorado last week. Among their 3 families, I have had the privilege of representing them 14 times in the past 20+ years as their housing needs changed. Hiking, laughing, and catching up on each others' lives was a balm for my soul.

Of course, California migration data goes both ways and the number of people leaving California for other states declined in 2023 by about 15% from 2022. Issues at play in migration are taxes, jobs, politics, weather and affordability. Florida has been in the news for their increased out of state migration trends with the key reasons being climate related disasters and increased insurance costs.
Our leaves are starting to change here, too. I encourage you to go hiking with a friend soon!
