The timing of our early spring market tends to be a bit weather dependent and this past weekend with its blue sunny skies gave us a glimpse of the weather (and market uptick) to come. Things generally pick up after the Super Bowl and it certainly seems like buyer demand is out there already and overall consumer confidence is up. Interest rates are down from our slow 4th Q 2023, and although we can't expect the rate drops we thought we would in 2024, most experts are forecasting rates in the low 6's by the end of the year.
Our local inventory remains very low, but many homes are being prepped for sale as I write this. Jordan Levine, the chief economist for the California Association of Realtors, stated in January that he expects 2024 home sales to be 23% higher than last year and that median home sales prices will go up by 6.2%.
